LEEDS MET COMMUNITY CARNIVAL 2008:
Leeds Metropolitan University would like to warmly invite you to attend our Community Carnival in the beautiful grounds of our Headingley Campus on Tuesday 9th September 2008.
This free event will include a selection of culturaly aware foods and refreshments that cater for a range of dietary requirements. Entertainment and activities will be provided throughout the day by local arts, music and special interest groups from within the university and beyond. From Bhangra and Steele Dummers to Zulu Dancers, Circus Performers, Street Dance Workshops, Bouncy Castles and a Climbing Wall; everything is free and all-comers are welcome. The day is about celebrating equality and diversity at our university and in our wider community.
It is about how we as an institution and a community learn about openess and tolerance of each other, our beliefs and of many ways in which we all choose to live our lives. It is hoped that it will be a real reflection on the beauty of our multicultural city with world music, entertainment and a renactment of a battle in the British Civil War provided by the Royal Armouries and performed live in the grounds of our campus where it is thought to have taken place so many years ago.
The event will begin at 3pm and end around 8.30pm. Guests that wish to offer their opinion can participate in short discussions on equality at Leeds Met and in our community. Anyone not wishing to participate in these discussions will still be most welcome to enjoy all of the other free activities available on the day.
Should you wish to attend, please register online where you can also find out more about the event - tickets for the event are limited so we ask that people register early to avoid disappointment. Please visit our event website www.leedsmet.ac.uk/beyondcompliance for more information. We hope that you can join us for this exciting day!
