Stony Stratford Bell Ringers Signal The Start Of The London 2012 Olympics

Bell Ringers at St Mary & St Giles, Stony Stratford Bell Ringers at St Mary & St Giles Church in Stony Stratford joined in with other all over the UK this morning to signal the start of the London 2012 Olympics.
At 8:12am, the bells were rung for three minutes and could be heard for miles around.
In London, Big Ben chimed non-stop for three minutes. Special permission had to be gained for the hour bell at the Palace of Westminster to be allowed to toll out of its regular sequence.
The London 2012 Olympic Opening Ceromon, named 'Isles of Wonder', will take place in the Olympic Stadium tonight from 9pm. The countdown show starts on BBC1 at 7pm.
While we were at the church this morning, we were genorously allowed to pop up to the top of the tower. Here are a couple of photos from the top, overlooking Stony Stratford to the north and then to the south;
