The Download Festival 2012 road closure signs have been corrected!
Correct Download Festival 2012 road closure signSeveral Castle Donington residents were alarmed last week when they saw signs around the Coppice traffic lights near Donington Park racing circuit saying that the A453 road through Isley Walton will be closed from Sunday 10th June from 21:00 hours until Monday 11th June 15:00 hours.
AboutMyArea/DE74 is pleased to clarify that these signs were in fact, wrong, and the corrected signs have now been put in place.
Live Nation, the organisers of Download, applied for two road closures:
Sunday 10th June 21:00 - 02:00 Monday 11th June
And
Monday 11th June 09:00 - 15:00
Live Nation do not anticipate using the Sunday road closure order unless there is a mass exodus from the festival on Sunday evening. This typically happens if it rains heavily for example.
For the last two years the road closure order has been possible from 07:00 on Monday morning but to allow more people to get out of the village to work this year the Isley Walton road will not close until 9:00am. The notice allows closure until 3:00pm but Live Nation expect the site to be clear and the road to re-open around midday on the Monday.
Obviously with over 100,000 people expected at Download this year this area is still one to be avoided on Monday morning if possible, as rain or shine the previous day, it will be very busy that morning.
