Barnes Wallis Exhibition - Lunchtime Lectures

As part of the exhibition 'Barnes Wallis - the Yorkshire Connection and Beyond", which is on display at Goole Museum until Saturday 30 January, lunchtime lectures are taking place as follows:

Wednesday 13 January

Peter Rix of the Barnes Wallis Memorial Trust will be giving a lunchtime lecture entitled 'The Life and Work of Barnes Wallis' in the Education Room (at the back of the temporary exhibition gallery) at Goole Museum. The lecture starts at 12.30pm and will finish at about 1.15pm, with an opportunity to ask Peter questions. Admission is free. Tea and coffee can be purchased at the lecture - please feel free to bring something to eat. As seating is limited, people wishing to attend are requested to ring the museum beforehand on (01405) 768963 to reserve a seat if travelling any distance to avoid disappointment.

Wednesday 27 January

Today's lunchtime lecture will feature a showing of a contemporary film, with commentary by Barnes Wallis, showing the building of the R100 at Howden. A member of the Barnes Wallis Memorial Trust will present the film, and supply additional commentary, as well as answering questions. It is intended to show another short film featuring one of Barnes Wallis's later aeronautical projects. As previously, the lecture will start at 12.30pm and finish at about 1.15pm. Admission is free. Tea and coffee can be purchased at the lecture - please feel free to bring something to eat. As seating is limited, please ring the museum beforehand on 01405 768963 to reserve a seat if you are travelling any distance, to avoid disappointment.

Goole Museum is on the first floor of the library, in Carlisle Street. Parking is available nearby in Estcourt Street and North Street, with metered parking at Wesley Square, all within easy walking distance of the museum.
