Inspiring Art Classes Next Week at Canons AshbyInspiring Art Classes Next Week at Canons AshbyNext Week Bay Tree Cottage are joining forces once again with the National trust to offer two inspiring art classes at Canons Ashby.

On Tuesday 26 June, with local tutor Sonia Hawes, participants will be drawing inspiration from the beautiful gardens at Canons Ashby on the Botanical Drawing Workshop. Sonia and her class will be roaming the gardens and parkland drawing the foliage and flowers growing in the abundant beds and borders .

Sonia, who has worked with Bay Tree Cottage for a number of years, says ‘If you already know the basics but would like an opportunity to brush up on your skills, or an excuse to spend a day with pencil in hand then this is the course for you! Or if you are a complete beginner with no previous drawing experience, but keen to embrace a new hobby and skill we will take the fear out of putting pencil, pastel or paint to paper!’

Later in the week on Thursday 28 June, the grounds of Canons Ashby will provide the perfect venue a day of Landscape Drawing!

This workshop will be run by David Douglas an accomplished local artist and teacher. Under David’s excellent tutoring and guidance, participants will learn the basic rules of landscape drawing and develop an understanding of perspective, light and shade, detail and abstraction.

Jenny from Bay Tree Cottage says ‘With one-to-one tutoring and guidance throughout the day, and the freedom to explore the grounds at Canons Ashby, we will hope for some masterpieces by the end of the day!’

Further details about both of these workshops can be found on the website at www.btcworkshops.co.uk.
