Paulerspury Players hope to follow up their near sell-out success of last winter when they present another popular and traditional pantomime for five performances at the Village Hall from February 17 to 20.
This time the choice is “Goldilocks and the Three Bears” by Ron Hall and performances will start at 7.30pm from Wednesday to Friday with a Saturday matinee at 2.30pm and then a final evening performance at 7.30pm.
Ron Hall`s script is full of fun, song and dance and promises family entertainment for all ages. The success of the Saturday matinee for the previous panto has prompted the Players to repeat the party atmosphere this time by inviting all who come to bring a favourite teddy bear with them.
There will be a chance for all the teddy bears to sing a song together and join in with the children.
The story follows many a twist and turn as it unfolds. Goldilocks` Mum, Dame Trott, owns Calamity Cottage with its unfruitful apple tree, but she is not aware the tree is under a magic spell to bear its owner great riches.
The spell is discovered by the wicked Squire, Dick Dastardly, who, aided by his gruesome henchman Igor, tries to kidnap Goldilocks as part of a scheme to snatch the tree. Goldilocks seeks refuge with the Three Bears who realise the Squire`s plan, with the aid of their wise Uncle Polar.
The Squire and Igor still manage to steal the tree and kidnap Baby Bear to prompt a rescue mission. Dame Trott, aided by Goldilocks, her dashing admirer Edwin, silly brother Simon and his daft girlfriend Marigold race to the rescue. They face the usual pitfalls in the shape of a dark dungeon and a ghost but aided by a helpful Forest Fairy the tale resolves happily.
