Artist in exile sets up craft course

A local artist has set up her own craft courses after being made ‘homeless' by the closure of the Midlands Arts Centre.
Kings Heath-based Emma Jackson had been running classes in traditional and contemporary felt making at the mac, until the centre's closure for refurbishment.
She is now hoping to recruit textile students to weekly sessions at Bournville College of Art instead.
"The seven-week course will give people the opportunity to experiment with a range of fibres and fabric with wool. We will explore creating surfaces for stitch, employ resists to create seamless and 3D felt and Nuno felting," she says.
The lessons are aimed at all levels of experience from beginners and beyond. They take place on Wednesday evenings from 9 April. Anyone interested can contact Sarah Frost or Debbie Maddocks at the college on 0121 331 5775.
