Support the school and meet other parents

Colmore bandColmore donkeyOne of the great things about Colmore is the way parents have an opportunity to contribute to the success of the Nursery, Infant and Junior Schools. There is a wonderful atmosphere and a real sense of partnership here.

If your child comes to the school, then becoming an active member of the Friends of Colmore is a great way to get involved, support the schools and meet other parents.  It's not just fund raising. We have lots of fun too!

What we do

Joining in

Every parent or relative of a child at the school is automatically a ‘Friend of Colmore'.

As with all organisations there is a core of dedicated volunteers and a committee, but across the year many people are able to offer their time and skills to raise some extra money for the schools.

There are many jobs to be done. Some may only take a short time but every bit of help is valued and, of course, benefits the children.
You could be typing, photocopying, chatting, shopping, baking or preparing food for an event, collecting money, chatting, setting up and clearing up, looking after stalls or running activities. You could be helping to make Santa's grotto or thinking up quiz questions. There are lots of things to do!

By getting involved you also get to meet parents of children from other classes and other years. Chatting about their children all helps you get to know the school - which in turn can help your own child to settle in.

Some of the successful events we organise each year are car boot sales, quizzes, jumble sales, Christmas and Summer Fairs, plant sales and raffles.

The Christmas and Summer Fairs are wonderful social occasions as well as great fund-raisers for the schools. We also organise Easter holiday activities, which are participation events for children and parents.

The more people who get involved - even if only for one hour at a time - the more we can achieve together, for the benefit of all our children.

Raising funds

The Friends have gone from strength to strength.  This last  year was our best ever, when we raised almost £10,000 for the schools.  Recently the money we have raised has paid for...

  • Furnishing the IT suite
  • AV equipment - such as video projectors and tv/videos in classrooms
  • Playground equipment
  • Books, as a leaving gift for all year.six children
  • Games for rainy day playtimes
  • Football kit

How to get involved
If you can help out in any way please give us your name, phone number or email address and an idea of how you would like to get involved. Click here to email the Friends of Colmore
