Fans favourite, Grant Spencer, has moved on from Ramsbottom United and signed for Hyde (formerly Hyde United).
Moving on: Grant Spencer has left Ramsbottom United.
Spencer, a former junior at Bolton Wanderers, joined Ramsbottom at the beginning of last season, having impressed joint-managers Anthony Johnson and Bernard Morley whilst playing against the Rams for the now-defunct Rossendale United.
Having started the season in midfield, the 20 year old turned in some impressive performances on the left-wing, and as the season progressed, his form attracted the attention not only of a number of other clubs, but also the North-West Counties League. He was voted the league's "Player-of-the-Month" for April, having scored five goals and laid on a number of others as the club completed the season with 12 wins and a draw from the last 13 matches, and with it the league championship and promotion to the Evo-Stik League.
Hyde's phenomenal season in Blue Square North, saw them also gain promotion as Champions, after the past few seasons which saw the Ewan Fields side narrowly avoid relegation. They now take their place at the top of the non-league pyramid. So although the transfer Grant move up four rungs of the non-league ladder, everyone at The Harry Williams Riverside Stadium wishes him well, and he leaves with our thanks for being such an integral part of the successful Ramsbottom United team.
