Large numbers attend Broxbourne Council's Open Weekend
Just two of the thousands enjoying Broxbourne's "Open Weekend"
The London 2012 Games are fast approaching and to celebrate, the Council's leisure centres, The John Warner Sports Centre and Grundy Park Leisure Centre, held an Open Weekend on Saturday 23 and Sunday 24 June 2012 for members of the public.
Over 2,000 people visited The John Warner Sports Centre in Hoddesdon where free activities for all the family were on offer. Children's activities included a bouncy castle, giraffe slide, Zumba classes and a performance from The John Warner Sports Centre Junior Street Dancers. Swimming and Scrambles soft play proved popular and there was also a ladies football tournament organised Hoddesdon Owls Football Club. The event coincided with the tenth anniversary of the The John Warner Sports Centre.
Those who came along to Grundy Park Leisure Centre were offered free activities including a dance studio session for adults, a relaxing health suite session and a free Astro pitch session for all the family. The free SHOKK gym sessions for eight -15 year olds and the free raquet sports and swimming sessions proved to be popular with guests. Over the weekend, 44 children signed up for trial sessions in the Shokk gym and around 500 swimmers visited the pool, while 41 visitors took part in raquet sports (squash, badminton, table tennis).
