THE PROCESSED PEA music venue is to host a concert by FREYA ABBOTT FERGUSON
at The Light Dragoon, ETTON near Beverley on TUESDAY 3 JULY at 8.30pm.

Jude Abbott and Neil Ferguson of Chumbawamba will link up with Blowzabella's Jo Freya for a great evening of sumptuous harmonies, duelling brass and witty lyrics to some outstanding songs. Indeed their line up is quite unusual - it includes trumpet, saxophone, clarinet and guitar to back three sizzling vocals - a massive sound from just three people.

The musicians involved have crossed paths before when they worked together on a project to celebrate the music of Lal Waterson and have been friends ever since. Some of those special songs find their way into the set of the trio alongside material from Boff Whalley (Chumbawamba) Ray Hearne and others, alongside their own self-written gems. These are sometimes ‘unlikely‘ songs that defy description yet make for a hugely enjoyable experience for the audience - and they come with a definate sense of humour. Their CD ‘Get Well Soon‘ was described by Folk Roots as ‘a marriage made in musical heaven.' Another review summed up the band well when it noted that the album ‘mixes new songs, reworkings of traditional ones, two lively instrumentals, and an obscure XTC song. It also features two drownings and a hanging - so something for everybody'.

Jude and Neil headlined at this years Beverley Folk Festival with Chumbawamba -though these days their approach to covering often controversial subjects is now much more suble than the ‘Tubthumping‘ image that made them household names in the nineties. The pair said they were looking forward to coming back to the area with Jo to perform at The Processed Pea with their latest project.

Venue organiser Martin Peirson added "It's a great act this- wonderful songs, superb musicianship - and they have a enviable rapport with audiences -I can't wait!"

Tickets (£10) are available in advance from Beverley Tourist Information & Costcutter Cherry Burton and online from WeGotTickets.com.
