I've driven past this place many times, but it's taken me four months to discover the amazing transformation it's undergone inside. It used to be a Little Chef, and that's what it still looks like from the outside. And an old Little Chef beside a busy A road is not where you expect to find a very good Italian restaurant. But, after an elegant and comfortable refurbishment inside, that's what it's become. The service was attentive and friendly. The menu had a wide choice of pizza, pasta and other dishes. The food was delicious and was presented very attractively. The house white wine was crisp, lively and very drinkable. The highlight for me was the pudding, made with zabaglione and chocolate. We will certainly be going back. It reminded me in some ways of Pizza Express, but with much more quality and individual character for not much more money. If you live in the area, I strongly recommend you give it a try.

Tastefully converted from a former Little Chef at the Caxton roundabout. Good selection of pasta & pizza, together with meat/fish/veg main courses. Daily specials. Staff try very hard and are extremely child friendly. Better than your average pizza chain but a bit more expensive.

Stayed at a nearby hotel and came across this little restaurant.... You forget as soon as you sit down you are next to a petrol station and road! Superb this is one place i love going to for food. Superb food, lovely, relaxed ambience and very friendly staff. very accessible location and lots of parking space. i highly reccomend this restaurant especially for anyone with babies as there is plenty of room and no clutter.

The Horseshoe, not only St Neots area 'Most Loved' business as voted by over 1000 diners this year, but also an upcoming wedding reception venue.

Quiz Night

Sunday night is always a hugely popular night at the Rivermill, as it is the one night of the week that we hold a general knowledge quiz for all to enter. For a nominal entry fee (50 pence per person!) you can enter a team of up to six people to compete to win either the total sum of the entrance money, or a "Gallon of beer"; effectively eight pints or alternative drinks.

The team in second place wins whatever the winners reject. Those who come in "second-to-last" don't walk away empty handed either; that team wins the "goody bag" which has a mixture of all sorts of tuck inside!

Even if you don't have any luck in the quiz, fate may still be on your side, as we end the evening with a game of "Play your cards wrong". Raffle tickets can be purchased for a pound per strip, and if your ticket is pulled out of the hat you are given the chance to guess a sequence of 8 cards; whether each will be higher or lower in number then the previous.

Up to five people per week can be drawn from the hat; if no-one wins, the prize money carries over to the following week. Some of our winners have carried away over £900 before now!

Open Mic nights 

Every Tuesday night The Rivermill Tavern showcases local musicians and emerging talent, by means of staging an 'open mic' night. This gives musicians af all ages and abilities the opportunity to perform in public, and also watch others play a mixture of cover versions and original material.

Tuesdays have quickly developed into one of the busiest nights of the week at The Rivermill, with musicians and spectators getting progressively larger in number each week! We have some absolutely amazing musicians playing, including some top professionals who are always willing to pass on their knowledge and help to less experienced players.

So, bring along an instrument, or just bring yourself, and come and join in the action from 9pm onwards. You will always be made to feel welcome, there is no need to be afraid or shy; There is no pressure to play, and we always welcome new faces.


The night works like this: Those who would like to play bring their instrument(s) and put their name down on a chalkboard. Each artist will play 3 or 4 songs, depending how many musicians wish to play on the night in question. Everyone from the absolute beginner to the professional musician is welcome to come and join in.

So what are you waiting for? Dust off that guitar, re-string that old bass, and get down to The Rivermill on Tuesday!
