Choose who to vote for

Published: 24th April 2007 23:41

We approached each of the two candidates standing for election in Hillside Ward and invited them to submit a statement of up to 300 words explaining why they think you should vote for them. These statements are reproduced (unedited) below in alphabetical order of the candidate’s surname.

Heywood, Jean
Conservative

Jean lives in Borehamwood and is married with three adult sons and four Grand children, she was first elected to both Hertsmere Council and Elstree and Borehamwood Town Council in 1996 where Jean has been in 1998/9 deputy Mayor and then Mayor of Elstree and Borehamwood in 2000/1.

In Hertsmere Borough Council Jean has been Chairman of Highways Sub Committee and Planning Committee and served on many Committees. Jean serves on the Council Executive as Portfolio holder for Parks and Leisure and is presently the Portfolio Holder in the Executive for the Environment.

Jean has also served as Deputy Mayoress of Hertsmere Council for 2004/5 and is presently the Mayoress of Hertsmere Council.

Jean was also elected to Hertfordshire County Council in May 2005 and so represents Hillside ward on all three Councils looking after the residents comprehensively.

Jean has opposed the closure of Radlett Fire Station and continues to oppose as she fears this has had a detrimental effect on Borehamwood with its Fire cover.

Petar, Lee Robert
Labour

No statement received from candidate

This site is not promoting any individual candidate or party. The AboutMyArea local site editor approached all the candidates nominated in the listed wards and asked them to submit a 300 word statement. All were approached equally and given the same deadline. Where indicated, no statement was received by the initial deadline of midnight Tuesday 24 April 2007. The site may be updated periodically where late submissions are received. The text of all statements is reproduced exactly as submitted by the candidate or their agent and AboutMyArea is not responsible for the content of the candidate statements. Any statements over the 300-word limit have been cut at the end of the last complete sentence preceeding the word limit.

For further information please contact the site editor.
