AAA hosts workshops for City & County Healthcare managers

Published: 22nd May 2019 14:50

A SOMERSET training provider working with one of the nation’s largest domiciliary care organisations to deliver inductions and apprenticeships recently met with the company's managers to give them a training masterclass (May 2019).

AAA Training’s CEO, David Grant and Operations & Quality Director, Nicky McDonald attended the Managers’ Conference for the City & County Healthcare Group, which employs more than 8,000 people nationwide.

David explained: “We have been working in partnership with City & County Healthcare (CCHC) across the UK for 18 months delivering its induction programme and Apprenticeships at Adult Care Worker Level 2 and Lead Adult Care Worker Level 3.

“As Levy and work-based learning specialists, we launched a national training programme for CCHC, that provides professional training for more than 1,000 staff each year.”

AAA Training employs a national network of highly qualified and experienced Trainer-Assessors who train, teach, coach and mentor CCHC staff through their Apprenticeship programme.

“I was delighted to attend the managers conference and have an opportunity to facilitate Apprenticeship and Levy workshops throughout the afternoon. These types of event can only strengthen our working relationship and really do demonstrate both AAA Training’s and CCHC’s commitment to providing an outstanding Apprenticeship programme and our determination collectively to continuously improve it.”

CCHC’s Managers’ Conference took place in Birmingham. AAA Training were just one of five suppliers to attend the event and hold a Q and A session with each management team to see how much information the managers knew about its service.

CCHC is one of the big three home care providers in Britain.

It operates 280,000 hours a week of quality care to those in need and is one of the largest providers of community-based social care services in the UK. Every day, tens of thousands of people with care needs are supported by the Group, so they can continue living independently at home.

“We have a dedicated health care specialist division that has in-depth knowledge of the needs of care workers, their co-ordinators, supervisors and branch managers. We understand how to develop and enhance their skills and we work very closely with our learners to support them through whichever programme they are working on.”

AAA provides CCHC’s new recruits with a five-day training induction and a 12-week onboard programme working towards a care certificate.

“Organisations with well-trained teams tend to have happier and more secure staff that stay with them, so up-skilling through apprenticeships can help increase staff churn by six to 12 months, thus saving businesses money. This additional staff retention is also vital in an industry where more and more recruits are needed daily to help cope with the growing demand created by our ever-aging population.

“Home care helps reduce the pressure on the NHS and it has also been proven to be better for the elderly to remain for as long as possible within their own homes. Retaining staff also leads to better care outcomes, as service users have continuity in care.”

AAA Training began trading in 2017 after the management team identified an opportunity to deliver apprenticeships and training in the care sector. It specialises in apprenticeship management and assisting businesses who are subject to the levy.

“We’re on the ESFA’s Register of Apprenticeship Training Providers (RoATP) and organisations trust us to deliver their apprenticeships and the high-quality training they need at all levels for their staff. We work closely with our clients to provide programmes that specifically meet their needs and to assist them in upskilling their existing workforce through the qualification.

“Despite all the myths surrounding them, apprenticeships aren’t just for school leavers seeking a route into employment. They are in fact potentially invaluable to all staff within a business or organisation too.

“We also work closely with national care providers to deliver high quality Regulated Qualification Frameworks (RQF) training and assessments within our Apprenticeship Programme.”

Its experienced nationwide team of trainers and assessors deliver a comprehensive range of courses that run from Level 2 through to Level 5.

Understanding that different providers have varying requirements, the team works with each individually to ensure the most appropriate training solutions are delivered.

This may include an induction programme, which can be used towards a RQF qualification and covers all mandatory training to ensure compliance; training for in-house trainers, so they can deliver the modules themselves; an Apprenticeship Programme specifically designed to allow the reclaiming of the Apprenticeship Levy and access further funding if required, as well as ensuring Care Quality Commission (CQC) with support from AAA Training Solutions’ RQF assessors.

It also ensures organisations fully benefit from the Apprenticeship Levy. To add to this, AAA Training Solutions offers training and qualifications in Leadership and Management.
