New wellbeing business launches in Somerset during lockdown

Published: 17th August 2020 11:27

A NEW family-run organisation offering businesses and individuals help and advice to boost their professional and personal wellbeing has officially launched in Somerset this month (August 2020).

A Centre of Light based near Bridgwater is promoting values that support and encourage specialised education, growth and development, including psychic advice on business matters, careers and relationships.

Peter Heath, who co-founded the organisation with his wife Mags and step-daughters, Chantelle and Candice, says: “We’re living in tumultuous times and people are naturally worried about their businesses, jobs, health and relationships. We act as a sounding board and listen to their concerns, as well as helping them move forward positively with our expert guidance.

“We’ve officially launched this month to help people navigate the ‘new normal’, whether they are someone who runs their own business and is finding the changing economic landscape a daily challenge, or they are an employee who is worried about their role and their future.

“We offer a solution for employers, whose employees are experiencing difficulties, through our De-stress Energy Programme, which is one of the key services we provide. Companies whose personnel are going through tough times at the moment, as a result of COVID-19 related issues, are invited to sign up to the programme to see how we can help.

“There are many things we’re all having to deal with now that we may not have even dreamt about before, including the issues related to working from home and staying motivated, the impact all this has on our families and relationships, combined potentially with the uncertainty of returning to our original work environments, if we haven’t already, and if we’re safe to do so.

“Research into the impact of returning to work after a lengthy absence suggests it brings a unique set of challenges, often referred to as ‘return to work syndrome’.

“For those who have spent time furloughed and are heading back to work, we can help them to start thinking about managing their expectations and maintaining their emotional wellbeing. There are also concerns over redundancies, not everyone who has been furloughed will return to work. Plus, there are wellbeing issues for those who do not lose their jobs and who will naturally be feeling guilty that they have made it through, this is known as ‘survivor syndrome’.

“It can be a common problem for organisations on the other side of making redundancies. The overriding feeling for employees who have kept their jobs will be relief. But this often gives way to anxiety over the future, illness due to the stressful nature of the restructuring process and anger if they have seen colleagues and friends lose their jobs.

“There’s a fear of further redundancies too and all of this can lead to a whole host of negative emotions. If not faced head on, these anxieties can trickle through a company’s remaining workforce, pushing down staff morale and productivity.”

A Centre of Light believes that it is seeing a rapid change in workplace culture in the aftermath of the lockdown, in favour of a greater emphasis on mental health and emotional wellbeing. This is something employees are requesting, and employers are positively adopting, as a more caring work-life relationship develops.

“The number of new job titles being proposed is an indicator of the radical transformation that businesses are undergoing as they adapt to survive the Coronavirus pandemic.

“We’re expecting posts to be created nationwide such as: Director of Remote Experience, Chief Wellbeing Officer and Welfare & Resilience Manager. There will also be Work-From-Home Facilitators and Distraction Prevention Coaches coming forward too, as organisations start looking to maintain staff motivation and wellbeing, as the lockdown is eased further and the end of the furlough scheme approaches rapidly. These are all areas we can help everyone involved with.”

A Centre of Light offers businesses and individuals a selection of services including a De-stress Energy Programme and Focus Group Workshops, as well as psychic guidance on business issues, career advancement and an individual’s personal life.

“With our combined expertise, we believe we are best placed to utilise what we have learnt to help others. Our services have evolved as a result of our collective experiences over the years. We believe we offer something for everyone and can impact positively on the wellbeing of all.

“The materials and resources we use and the various techniques and services we provide are designed to assist everyone, step-by-step, towards a greater understanding of themselves, establishing self-reliance and helping them manage the emotional challenges in their life.”

A Centre of Light’s team hopes to be able offer people support and assistance through the current turmoil being faced.

“We can help you live authentically in society, strengthening the character within you. The more you deepen your character, the more you can navigate this uncertain world.

“To achieve that end-state, our steps and guideposts can prove invaluable on your journey, giving you direction and purpose whether in your work or personal life, and this is why our company strapline is: Business with a Heart®.”
