Community group volunteers muck in at Abbey Hill Golf Centre

Abbey Hill Golf Centre has welcomed a timely spring-clean with the help of two environmental groups from the Milton Keynes area, Two Mile Ash and Green Gym.
Engaging with the community was an important aspect of being awarded the prestigious international sustainability award, GEO Certified™, in 2013, and the public pay-and-play centre has continued to forge strong partnerships.
The two groups worked alongside the greenkeeping team at Abbey Hill – part of BGL Golf, the UK’s leading golf course owner and operator – on its 18-hole Main Course by clearing ponds.
Ross Edmonds, Course Manager at Abbey Hill Golf Centre, said: “Everyone, including our members and visitors, is very thankful for all of the hard work put in by the volunteers. There are 27 holes at Abbey Hill, including our nine-hole Short Course, so there’s a lot of ground to cover for our greenkeeping staff.”
Ross went on to show his gratitude by inviting all 60 volunteers to Abbey Hill, presenting each environmental group with a donation, in recognition of their efforts.
Andrew Scholey, General Manager at Abbey Hill, added: “We are committed to working closely with our community. We look forward to welcoming back Two Mile Ash and Green Gym for projects in the near future, one of which I believe involves building a new duck house.”
