The Annual Floor And Vault Competition

Huntingdon Gymnastics Club - July 2011Huntingdon Gymnastics Club - July 2011At the recent Cambridgeshire Gymnastics Association Floor and Vault Competition saw a dominant performance by Gymnasts from the Huntingdon Club.  The floor and vault competition plays an important role in the development of gymnasts at Huntingdon, it allows some gymnasts to experience competition for the first time and others to challenge against gymnasts from across the county who train a similar number of hours across the county at other clubs.  The competition runs across two levels, Level 1 for first time competitors and Level 2 for gymnasts who have achieved 15 points or higher in previous competitions.

Girl's 6 Years old - Level 1

In their very first competition the gymnasts from Huntingdon managed to cope with their nerves to record an excellent performance.  Teegan Milligan was this years overall champion, Shakira Roylance finished second overall and picked up a gold medal on the floor exercise.  Libby Butler finished 2nd on the floor behind her team mate and 4th overall.

Girl's 7 Years old - Level 1 & Level 2

This age group was dominated by Amy Price of Huntingdon Gym Club finishing 2 points clear of the rest of the field.  In the level 2 competition Chloe Harrison won the gold medal with an overall score of 14.1.

Girl's 8 Years old - Level 1

Huntingdon Gymnast's Alejandra Morgan and Megan Searle had a close competition with Megan winning on floor and Alejandra winning on vault, when the floor and vault scores were added together Alejander just won the overall gold from Megan by the smallest of margins 0.1!

Girl's 9 Years old - Level 1

This was also a tightly fought competition with Julia Baranowska (Huntingdon) winning the overall gold medal from Neale Wade's Gymnast Lucy Butler by only 0.1.  Huntingdon's Catlin Webster finished 3rd only 0.3 behind Julia.

Girl's 12 Years old+ - Level 1

Huntingdon's Nia Barnes won the overall Gold with top scores on both floor and vault, Nia was pushed all the way by team mate Katie Marson who finished 2nd overall.  Hannah Norris (Huntingdon) finished 5th overall in a very competitive field which 1st and 7th were separated by only 2 points.

Boy's 10/11 Years old - Level 2

Huntingdon finished with all their gymnasts in the top 4 Oliver Thompson won the overall gold medal.  Charlie Masters won on floor and picked up the silver medal overall.  Kyle Bowman and Joshua Freeman pushed their team mates all the way to finish 3rd and 4th respectively.

Boys 12 Years old+ - Level 2

Imran Cunningham (Huntingdon) finished second in this age group with Aaron Wildman finishing in 3rd place overall.

Huntingdon Coach Adam Scott commented on the clubs success ‘All the gymnast have worked hard in the build up to today's competition, they all performed exceptionally well and can be proud of their performances and of their hard work in preparation.'
