The workshops will be led by Dan Gordon, Principal Lecturer in Sport Science at Anglia Ruskin University. The workshops on this first day will cover Lifestyle Management and touch on a number of areas that are vital to improve an athlete's performance. Aimed at the athletes, the day will include elements of classroom based activity and practical sport. Coaches and /or parents are encouraged to attend to support athletes. Depending on take up for the day separate workshops may be put on aimed at coaches and /or parents. Please ensure you indicate your interest on the Coaches booking form below.
The Master Classes are free at the moment, having come about because of an underspend on a project, and if successful could lead to other workshops being organised to support developing talented athletes and their coaches. Due to how the workshops are being funded there is specific eligibility for athletes to attend. To be eligible to attend the workshops the athletes must:
- Have some form of disability
- Be training regularly with a club
- Have the desire to improve and develop along the performance pathway.
- Be involved in Athletics, Cricket, Swimming, Table Tennis and Wheelchair Basketball*
*The workshops may be opened up to other sports depending on interest from the initial target sports. There is no restriction on age of the athletes.
Please could you pass on the booking form to any athletes that you feel will benefit from the Master Classes and return to the address below by 16th September 2013. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact Rebecca Gilbertson to discuss.
