Have you just had a brand-new conservatory built and in need of some interior design inspiration; or maybe you have had a conservatory for years that you just don’t use and are looking to make it more homely? If you’re no interior design expert, it can be extremely difficult to know how to go about making your conservatory feel a part of your home.
It’s time to start from scratch and create a conservatory interior to be proud of. Check out the useful tips below to give you some inspiration on how you can go about creating a stylish conservatory interior.
1. Bring the outdoors in
One of the reasons why many people choose to have conservatories built is so that they have somewhere to sit to enjoy their garden all-year-round. To streamline the indoors and outdoors, why not add some plants to your conservatory? Make sure you choose plants that flourish in warm environments and be sure to maintain them. Not only are indoor plants visually appealing, but they can also provide many health benefits.
2. Change your furnishings
It’s often your furnishings that can make a conservatory appeal seem dull, or warm and inviting. If you believe that your current furnishings aren’t working well for the room, think about changing them up. Purchasing new furnishings is an ideal way of integrating new colour schemes into your décor. If you’re not keen on too much bright colour, you could use accessories such as scatter cushions or ornaments to add bright hues here and there. This would be best if you’re someone who likes to redecorate regularly.
If you wish to keep your existing furniture but are someone who likes to refresh their home interior regularly, another idea would be to reupholster your chairs with pretty fabrics to completely transform a room.
3. Create peace and tranquillity
If you’re hoping for your conservatory to become a space of tranquillity, your choice of décor will determine how well you’re able to relax and get into a peaceful zone. Stick to neutral colour tones alongside natural wooden furnishings and use drapes around the windows to block out the harsh sunlight. If you have large double doors opening out onto the garden, why not install a curtain pole from Poles and Blinds above the door frame to hang some lightweight fabric? Simply pull it across when it gets too bright to shelter you from intense heat and sunlight as you read a book or enjoy some meditation.
4. Set the mood with lighting
It’s unlikely you’ll need to switch on artificial lights even on the darkest of days due to the amount of natural light that will flood through the glass doors, windows and roof, but come evening time, you can create a cosy ambience with appropriate lighting. As your conservatory is a space that’s not entirely inside or outside, adding lanterns on the floor or hanging them from the ceiling is a smart way of brightening up the space. Or, if you’re keen to achieve a more homely feel, think about adding a table or floor lamps.
