Talents shine in dance spectacular

Romford, Dagenham and Barking talents shine in dance spectacular

Street, tap and Bollywood come together as hundreds of young people from Havering, Brentwood, Billericay, Chelmsford, Thurrock, Waltham Forest, Newham and Dagenham, create dazzling dance fusion in First Feat at the Queen's Theatre, Hornchurch on Sunday 10 July.

First Feat

First Feat is a celebration of local young dancing talent featuring performers aged between 12 and 25. The two performances at 6pm and 8pm are jam-packed with explosive displays of a colourful variety of styles including tap, jazz, contemporary, hip hop, street, urban, funk, acrobatics, House Ballet, jitterbug and even Bollywood!

Sixteen performing arts groups from across East London and Essex , will take part in this extravaganza:

  • The Queen's own youth dance group Q Dance, AX Dance Company of Abbs Cross School, Eklectic Over-16s Team of Beverly Marks Stage School and Kayo Dance, all in Hornchurch; and Fun and Funky School of Dance in Harold Wood
  • Brentwood Performing Group from Essex Dance Theatre; Buchs Dance Company, of Brentwood Ursuline
  • Creative Blast Academy, of Billericay
  • William de Ferrers School Dance Group, of South Woodham Ferrers
  • Tip Toe Stage School in South Ockenden
  • CFS Arts Award Theatre Company, of Chingford Foundation School
  • 2Faced and Kryptic Fusion groups, and the Optic Dance Company, of Robert Clack School, all in Dagenham
  • Anonymous, from Lister Community School and Equinox from Cumberland School, both in Plaistow

First Feat is an annual event at the Queen's and has been a major platform for local talent for more than a decade, involving thousands of young people over the years.

Queen's Theatre Education Manager Patrick O'Sullivan said: "First Feat is a vital celebration of the diversity of cultures and styles of youth dance in East London and Essex. It is a fantastic festival of creativity and a wonderful coming together of young people from different backgrounds with varying styles and interests - all united by a passion for dance."

First Feat takes place at the Queen's Theatre,
Billet Lane, Hornchurch on Sunday 10 July at 6pm and 8pm.
