On the Hot List for Flights from London Stansted this Summer

Published: 2nd March 2020 10:57

With the winter weather starting to break, everyone’s starting to look towards the summer and planning their trips abroad. Living in the east or southeast of England – particularly in Essex – you’ll know that the go-to airport for summer trips is London Stansted Airport.

For this year, Stansted Airport has expanded its destinations while keeping the favourites on the board to ensure that anyone looking to enjoy their summer abroad can do so with ease. With some new flight paths and some long-established favourites, these are the destinations that are bound to be on the hot list for the holidaymakers of Essex this summer, thanks to the convenience of Stansted Airport.

Commencing 26 June, Stansted Airport will be running the UK’s only direct flights to Dakar, the capital of Senegal. The Air Senegal flights will be operating on Tuesdays, Fridays, and Sundays, leaving the UK at 7:50 am to arrive in Senegal at 2:05 pm. The return leg will see flights depart from Dakar at 12:15 am to arrive back at Stansted at 6:25 am.

The best aspect of this new Stansted flight path is that it removes the much-maligned layover that often comes with visiting a more offbeat and distant destination, like Dakar. Now, anyone who wants to visit the West African country can do so with ease from Stansted Airport.

There is so much to see and do in the capital city, from immersing yourself in the culture, music, and food, to exploring places like the Île de N'Gor, Musée Théodore Monod, and the African Renaissance Monument. Of course, there’s also the beach.

Last year, Air India introduced flights from Amritsar – in the northernmost regions of India – to London Stansted, and this year, they’ve added yet another long-haul flight to one of the country’s most famous cities.

In February, the airline inaugurated its Mumbai route from Stansted Airport, with flights operating three times per week – Mondays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. Flights leave London Stansted at 3:30 pm to arrive in Mumbai the next day at 5:50 am, with returns leaving Mumbai at 10:20 am to land in England at 2:00 pm.

Mumbai is one of the most famous cities in the world, filled with incredible things to see and do, including the Taj Mahal Palace, Elephanta Island, the Gateway of India, and the Dr Bhau Daji Lad Mumbai City Museum.

Malaga remains one of the most popular destinations for British holidaymakers, acting as the hub to southern Spain and, particularly, the Costa del Sol. Knowing that most visitors don’t stay in the city of Malaga itself, the destination has fine-tuned itself as the nucleus of tourism in the area, offering a range of cost-effective, family, luxury, and green hire cars from Malaga airport.

Flights depart daily from London Stansted to Malaga Airport, with EasyJet, Ryanair, Jet2, and British Airways all running routes to the much-loved Spanish city. All that you need to decide is if you’d rather depart in the morning or the afternoon.

There is so much to enjoy across the Andalucía region, with Malaga Airport perfectly positioned as the best place to arrive and set-off from to get to whichever part you’ll be exploring. You could head over to Granada to see Alhambra, to Fuengirola to enjoy the Costa del Sol, visit the Catedral in Burgos, or explore the caves in Nerja.

London Stansted has so many incredible locations lined up for anyone who wants to go on a direct trip to somewhere sunny this summer, with Dakar and Mumbai joining the old favourite Malaga as the hot-ticket destinations in 2020.
