How to find a skip in London?

Author: Chris Kervin (Advertising Feature) Published: 19th April 2016 12:44

Skip hire is a popular choice for waste disposal throughout London, with convenience and affordability being major contributors to the popularity. Skips are available in numerous different sizes, and are regularly hired by both commercial and domestic consumers.

What can you throw into a skip in London?

Skip hire is useful for most types of waste, but there are some exceptions to what can be thrown into a skip. Items that cannot be thrown into a skip include electricals, hazardous items (such as explosives), tyres, asbestos and solvents. Items allowed in your skip include metal, plastic, organic waste, domestic waste, furniture, wood, rubble, and much more. If you are unsure of what you can and can't throw into a skip, check with your London skip hire provider.

Do I need a skip hire license?

If you do not have your own land on which the skip can be placed, and will need to put the skip onto council land, you will most likely require a skip license. If you can place the skip on your own land, or private land, a skip license will not be required. Skip licenses are issued by the local council, but your skip hire provider can normally arrange for the license for you. Skip permit prices are set by the council, so do vary from £15 to upwards of £60, depending on your location.

How much does skip hire cost?

Skip hire is a very affordable way of disposing of your unwanted waste. Most skip hire companies have skips that start at under £80. In London, skip hire is slightly more expensive than in other parts of the UK, mostly due to increased costs, such as congestion charges and waste disposal.

What size skip should I hire?

The size skip that you will need will depend on the amount of waste you have to throw away. For smaller projects, you could opt for a mini skip or skip bag. These are the cheapest skip hire options available, and also require the least amount of room for placement.

One of the most popular skip sizes available are builder's skips. These skips are normally available in 6-8 yard sizes, and can hold a considerable amount of waste, and are suitable for more domestic projects.

If you are producing industrial amounts of waste, you will need a roll-on roll-off skip. These skips are extremely large, and can take a considerable amount of waste.

Skips

If you are hiring a skip in London, always ensure that your skip hire provider is insured and licensed to carry waste. If you have waste that cannot go into a skip, check with your local council and consider recycling any unwanted items.

It’s been a frustrating season for Rodgers and the Packers. They’re now three-4-1 on the halfway factor, and searching up within the NFC North standings at the five-three Bears and 5-three-1 Vikings. It’s going to be an uphill climb for inexperienced Bay to make the playoffs.cambridge
