Avast Free Review

Published: 23rd July 2019 18:06

One of the most popular antivirus programs out there is made by Avast. Avast is a highly reputable company that makes very robust applications for preventing harmful programs and viruses from affecting your personal devices or stealing your personal information. We have all heard the hype about their software, but does it actually live up to it?

We have personally tried out the free version of their famous software to poke around and see what features Avast has delivered in the latest version of this megapopular software. In this Avast free review, we’re going to cover all the topics you need to know about the free version of Avast.

Avast Free Antivirus Review

For a free program, we must say that Avast has built a ton of functionality into their free version of their antivirus software. There are real-time scans to assess the health of your device, has both web and email protection from harmful programs, and also includes a browser plugin that will steer you away from sites that may pose a risk.

There’s also a whitelist mode that allows you to specify which websites and applications you are going to allow access to, which is a pretty advanced feature for a free program. One of the best features of this free program is that it has a video downloader to scan your downloads and quarantine any potential threats before they become a problem.

The one downside to this program is that Avast feeds you constant notifications and upsells to buy their full version. We guess that this is expected of a program that is free, but it can still be annoying and get in the way of user experience.

Recap

For a free program, we’re not sure of what else we could possibly ask of this version from Avast. It offers all the basic functions that you could ever want with the only downside being a constant upsell effort by Avast. We highly recommend it as a free option if you are looking for some basic security for your computer or another device.
