As an official supporter of this year’s BBC Children In Need Appeal, the promoters of the British MotoGP™ are proud and delighted to donate £1,786 to the fantastic BBC UK charity. The figure is based on revenue received from ticket sales* for the 2017 World Championship British MotoGP™ event – which takes place at Silverstone Circuit over the August Bank Holiday weekend.
Next year’s British MotoGP™ takes place at Silverstone Circuit over the August Bank Holiday weekend, and will feature four British riders – Cal Crutchlow, Sam Lowes, Scott Redding and Bradley Smith – racing in the premier MotoGP™ feature race, in addition to spectacular action from Moto2™ and Moto3™. August 25-27 will be a full weekend of great activities on and off the race track at Silverstone – with entertainment for all the family in the new-look Grand Prix Village, with live bands on stage, a food festival, funfair, great displays and trade stands from around the world.
In addition to supporting the BBC Children In Need Appeal, the British MotoGP™ will be at Motorcycle Live, the UK’s largest bike show, which opens today (Saturday 19 November) at the NEC in Birmingham. Visitors to the British MotoGP™ stand will witness the launch of a brand new motorcycle product from Pontypool-based company Van-Sport and be able to enter a free competition to win British MotoGP™ tickets – by texting MotoGP to 66777. Fans will be able to win more free tickets, with a special Valentino Rossi picture competition over on the Yamaha stand.
The great money-saving Early Bird ticket offer, with a three-day British MotoGP™ adult circuit entry pass costing just £64.50, is still available on-line at Silverstone.co.uk – and look out for a sensational one-day only Black Friday ticket offer on 25 November!
Martin Whitaker, CEO of the Circuit of Wales (promoters of the British MotoGP™) said: “As a big family event, the World Championship British MotoGP is extremely proud to be supporting this year’s BBC Children In Need Appeal. We’ve all grown up with the charity and over the last thirty-five years it’s become a British institution and something we are all very proud and supportive of. Whilst the British MotoGP fans are, and always will be, the most important aspect of everything we do, our support of this year’s BBC Children In Need Appeal is just one of the many new initiatives that we have planned to branch out and engage with a much wider audience. We want people who haven’t ever been to a motorsport event before to come to Silverstone over the August Bank Holiday next year and not just watch what we consider to be the world’s best racing, but also enjoy the fantastic live bands we’ll soon be announcing, a big food festival, funfair rides and the electric atmosphere that a big fun-loving crowd will generate.”
The 2017 MotoGP™ got underway with testing at Valencia in Spain, with the 2016 British MotoGP™ race winner, Maverick Viñales, setting the fastest time on both days for his new Yamaha team. The full line-up for riders and teams for the 2017 MotoGP™ season, and racing at Silverstone in August, is:
