Late Night Shopping & Street Entertainment Event - 2009

Author: Katie Robson Published: 6th December 2009 12:09

Hundreds of people braved the rain to come and enjoy a festive evening in the heart of Neston.

The Neston Christmas Lights were officially switched on by Deputy Chairman of Neston Town Council, Cllr Mike Wellman, after which the amazing Neston Children's Choir entertained with a fabulous set of Christmassy songs.

Late Night Shopping & Street Entertainment in NestonSanta arrived on his sleigh and took up residence in the Grotto at the Neston Centre, and Street Entertainers kept folk amused while they shopped in the Town Centre.

The Neston Youth Choir then performed, with the Children's Choir, outside the Parish Church, featuring an outstanding performance of "All I Want For Christmas."

There were over 300 entries in the Prize Draw to win a Laptop and various great runners-up prizes.  The winners were:

Laptop Computer courtesy of ALDI - Joanna Ellis
£50 Gordale voucher - Mandy Marshall
Turkey Crown from Hamilton Barnes - Liz McBain
Meal for 4 with wine from Marietos Cafe - Yvonne Hannan
Spray Tan courtesy of Neston Sunbed & Beauty Studio - Charlie Palmer
£20 Voucher from Neston Natural Health & Beauty Clinic - Dy Brown
Framed Print of Parkgate from High Street Gallery - Cath Armitage.

The winners will be presented with their prizes in the next few days.

A huge thank you to all who participated, and particular thanks to the following organisations and individuals for their help in putting together the event.  In no particular order, as you all put in so much effort:

There is one vote of thanks missing from the above, and that is Carrie Spacey, proprietor and editor of this website, and her husband Dean. Well done to you both.

some lovely photos(and its nice to see the staff from neston library smiling for once!!).yesterday i went to see a relative of mine(that lives on drake road)and i discovered that drake stores has now reopened-am not sure if you know about this carrie or not but yes drake stores has been open for a few days now.i know earlier in the year an asian consortium bought drake stores from its previous owner but it never opened due to objections raised to a late alcohol licence.this shop has been operating on that site for a great number of years so its good to see it trading again and whoever the new owner is then the people of drake road and the massive liverpool road estate should welcome drake stores back to its former glory.so good luck to its new owners.
