On May 5th, residents in the CH64 postcode area will be asked to vote for their representatives on two councils.

Cheshire West and Chester Council
Neston Town Council

There are no elections required in either Neston or Little Neston wards for the Town Council, as only four candidates were nominated for the four seats available in each.

AboutMyArea invited the candidates in all the wards where elections are taking place to submit statements explaining why you should vote for them.  Only on AboutMyArea are you able to compare the candidates side-by-side, to help you make an informed choice on May 5th.

Click on the highlighted name of the Ward you are interested in above, to read statements submitted by candidates.

How many votes do I have?

In each ward, and for each Council election, you are entitled to a vote for every seat available.  So, if there is 1 seat, you have 1 vote, but if there are 4 seats, you can vote for up to 4 candidates.

Thank you Carrie for giving us this opportunity to read about the candidates. Having read the statements from those standing for CWaC in Little Neston & Burton, I plan to vote for two candidates from different parties, both being parties I would not normally vote for. I'm voting for the individuals, not the parties, and my vote is influenced by what the candidates have written.

I'm sure Carrie is as disappointed as I am that there has not been a buzz of activity here. Years ago I visited a country where they had suffered a dictatorship, and I happened to be there the day before their first election for years: the atmosphere was electric. In UK none of us can remember not having a vote, so some take it for granted.
I wish everybody would vote. I hope they will think about each candidate and vote for the one/s they think are best, rather than voting on party lines. (I also hope most will vote Yes to AV.) The main thing I hope for, though, is that the apathy party don't win again!

I understand what Charlie is saying and i to think it is important to vote(but then i would do being a candidate).Over the last few weeks i've been out canvassing and i think there is more interest in this election than previously, possibly because of the AV referendum going on at the same time, but the royal wedding celebrations have probably overshadowed the news coverage.Being a part of the election process really gives me a buzz and i've already got butterflies ahead of election day on Thursday, but the highlight of the elections for me has to be the count, when you are a candidate the atmosphere is electric. The count this year is at Northgate arena on Friday but a pass is needed to gain entry,I don't think i will be getting much sleep on thursday night
