A Christmas Message from Andrew Miller MP

There is no time quite like Christmas. It is a time of joy, and kindness, a season of goodwill which touches all ages, and every community. We are coming to the end of a year that has been hard for most of us but there are many encouraging signs for 2010.

Neston Community & Youth Centre earlier this year.
Despite the difficulties of the recession and the problems that I know many local families have experienced we must also be thankful that there was good news for many in the constituency when all the jobs at Vauxhall Motors were saved and Quinn Glass was allowed to continue production and indeed we look forward to Marks and Spencer starting its new flagship store in 2010. And, away from industry and commerce, it's great to see progress on our new iconic FE College in the centre of Ellesmere Port.
I do hope that the people of Ellesmere Port and Neston will enjoy a happy holiday season; but my thoughts are also with those who are coping with illness or who are alone during the festivities. And, we mustn't forget the many people in our essential services who will be working and who deserve our thanks.
Our thoughts should also be with our armed forces who are serving so bravely in Afghanistan and particularly with our local troops who are away from their loved ones at this time.
I wish everyone a very happy, prosperous and, most importantly, peaceful New Year.
