Last Saturday, being the first Saturday of the month, the Parkgate Society Community Spirit volunteers met for their monthly litter pick and tidy up throughout Parkgate.
As more and more people arrived and signed in it was realised that we had more volunteers than we had litter picking equipment. An amazing turnout, with twenty six Parkgate residents signing in to help.
After a brief introduction and welcome, especially to those who were joining us for the first time, the volunteers set off in groups of twos and threes to various parts of Parkgate to pick up litter. At the end of two hours over 30 bags of litter had been collected and left near the bins throughout Parkgate for collection and disposal by Cheshire West and Chester Street Scene staff.
Our grateful thanks go to all those who litter picked, to Parkgate Fish and Chips for supplying us with Chips and Hot Drinks afterwards and also to the staff from Street Scene.
The Parkgate Society Community Spirit team are keen to make Parkgate a clean and tidy place to live in as well as a wonderful place to visit. We hold monthly litter picks and tidy the overgrown areas of Parkgate. We maintain the boat on the middle slip and the various planters along the Parade and Mostyn Square. Our next project is to tidy around the toilet block and car park on School Lane. If you would like to join us or please email firstname.lastname@example.org.
Advance notice - Parkgate Society Community Spirit has registered the 6th April litter pick with Keep Britain Tidy Great British Spring Clean 2019 which takes place from 22nd March - 23rd April 2019. This year the national event hopes to attract over 500,000 people to join forces - in partnership with community organisations, businesses and the government - to collect and safely dispose of single-use plastic from our streets, parks and beaches, recycling as much as possible.
