Best selling romance author Penny Jordan came to Neston Library on Thursday 23rd April.
Penny is the author of 190 novels and has sold over 80 million books worldwide. She also writes under the names Caroline Courtney, Annie Groves, Lydia Hitchcock and Melinda Wright. The event was organised by the Friends of Neston Library.
Fresh from seeing St George slay the dragon on the High Street we settled down for an extremely enjoyable evening with Penny.
I immediately knew that it would be a fun and interesting evening as Penny is so approachable and down to earth. She spoke and chatted about her work and a whole variety of topics for almost two hours. Penny spoke about what inspires her, how she became a writer and how she writes her novels.
She also spoke about the publishing process. I particularly enjoyed hearing how she researches her family sagas and finding out how involved she gets in the history and making sure that what happens to her characters is very accurate. There were no shortage of questions from the audience particularly as she has such a good knowledge of the area. It was a fantastic evening and we very much hope that Penny will come and see us again.
Penny was also extremely generous and did not charge us a fee. The Friends of Neston Library are sending a donation to the Romantic Novelists Association instead which will help towards supporting new writers.
