Willaston's "Hey Day"

"The Big Lunch" took place throughout the UK last weekend, and residents of Field Hey, Beech Hey and Street Hey Lane in Willaston celebrated in considerable style.
With a theme of "Swinging 60's," the street party saw some colourful costumes donned and imaginative decoration of gazebos and tables.
Co-ordinator Jen Murray contacted local residents several months ago to suggest their participation in the event, having been involved in a similar party for the Queen's Golden Jubilee in 2002. The idea proved very popular, with virtually all households agreeing to take part.
Party-goers enjoyed a hog roast and various other refreshments, and there were activities organised for all ages, including a childrens' treasure hunt, a 60s quiz, disco, karaoke and a balloon race.
As you will see from the photos below, a fantastic time was had by all.
