Thumbs up for the CH64 Big Lunch

Hundreds of local people turned out for the CH64 Big Lunch at Stanney Fields Park on Sunday June 5th.
Part of a National initiative to persuade people to take time out to have lunch together on one particular day of the year, this was the second Big Lunch in the Neston park, and was roundly praised as a great community event.
Organised by Community Activities in Neston (CAN) and the CH64 Events Group, there were a number of free activities on offer including games, tug of war, story-telling, sand pits, drumming and a performance by the Neston Kidz Choir led by Hip and Harmony's Director Paula Prytherch.
Families brought along their own picnics, tables, chairs, gazebos and rugs and the rain mostly held off, with even a few glimpses of the sun in mid-afternoon.
The event was co-ordinated on the day by CAN Group Project Managers Eileen Miller and Zaria Shreef.
Eileen Miller said: "Community Activities in Neston and CH64 Events group would like to say a big thank you to everyone who turned up to the Big Lunch on Sunday at Stanney Fields Park. This was the second Big Lunch in Neston and we hope to build on this every year. Well over 300 people attended the event, and we hope even more will come along next year.
"The event was funded by CWAC Members budget, from Andy Williams, Kay Loch and Louise Gittins, who all turned up on the day and we would like to thank them for their support. Several Neston Town Councillors also attended to show their support for the event, including the current Mayor of Neston, Cllr Martin Barker.
"Most of all we would like to thank our volunteers on the day, Danny Buckley, Jessica Blythyn, Beth Currie and Nora who is our eldest volunteer and never ceases to amaze us with her endless energy at the age of 81. Thank you!"
