A Few Good Neston Players Nominated for NODAs

Published: 28th February 2013 13:06

Following on from last year's multiple nominations at the 2011 NODA North West Amateur Theatre Awards, the Neston Players are delighted to have received three nominations for the 2012 awards event.

Covering an area stretching from Cheshire to Cumbria, the awards are held annually to celebrate and recognise amateur dramatic productions right across the North West.

The Neston hopefuls this year include:

• Best Actor (Drama): Rob Poston for 'Kaffee' in 'A Few Good Men';

• Best Supporting Actor (Drama): Richard Dodd for 'Kendrick' in 'A Few Good Men';

• Best Staging: ‘A Few Good Men.'

The Players hope to build on recent years' successes and are keeping their fingers crossed for this year's awards night. Chairman, Paul Kirkbright commented: "Neston Players are delighted to be nominated once again for these prestigious regional awards.

"Another three nominations this year really reflects the hard work and effort the membership puts into each and every production. Having just celebrated our 60th anniversary season and now with our next production looming on the horizon these really are exciting times for the Players."

Reviews of 'A Few Good Men' can be found on the Neston Players website.

The Players' next production will be their first ever musical, the Eurovision inspired musical comedy ‘Eurobeat' - a glorious comedy stage musical which celebrates everything loveable and cringe-worthy about the Eurovision Song Contest. It is a truly interactive musical - the audience get involved and vote for their favourite entry so that a different winner could be crowned every performance.

The musical is set in Sarajevo, the city which has somehow won the right to host the competition. The Bosnians are undoubtedly giving it their best shot, it's just that somehow things don't always go according to plan. A tongue-in-cheek celebration of all that we love (and hate!) about the Eurovision Song Contest, this musical has been described as one of the most exuberant and joyous musicals to have appeared on stage in recent years.

The production will be stated at Neston Civic Hall from May 8 - 11, full details and ticket information here.
