Finishing Touches as Neston Gets Ready for the Big Day

Neston town centre's spruce up for this week's 200th Anniversary Ladies Club Day was completed at the weekend.
A crew arrived first thing on Sunday morning to put up the very special bunting that has been created as part of the 200th Anniversary Heritage Project co-ordinated by Hip & Harmony CIC.
Over several weeks earlier in the year, CAN Group went into four local primary schools (Neston, Parkgate, St Winefride's and Woodfall) to work with children on the design of 100 pennants, each depicting aspects of history over the past 200 years as well as iconic Neston images. The finished designs were then sent to a company that specialises in creating bunting.

The resulting effect has been roundly applauded, as the bright and colourful new flags are proudly displayed through the town centre. It is anticipated that the bunting will be added to in future years, to cover more of the town centre and the roads leading in and out of it.
Also at the weekend, another crew was out finishing the black and gold painting of new bollards around the Cross and High Street. These were installed as part of the recent public realm design works. The design of the bollards was chosen to be in keeping with the heritage-style of the new lamp-posts and some benches that are to be installed soon at the Cross and outside the Town Hall.
