Neston High Students Celebrate Fundraising Success with Kenny and Marina Dalglish

Students at Neston High School raised a phenomenal £8,100 for the Marina Dalglish Fund through participating in a sponsored walk.
The Marina Dalglish Fund was established in 2005 to improve cancer care on Merseyside. Students were overwhelmed when Kenny and Marina Dalglish visited the school to receive the cheque and to speak at a special assembly.
Kenny and Marina Dalglish personally thanked students for their generosity in raising the considerable sum of money and described how money from the charity has been used to benefit local communities to date.
Head Boy Matthew Vine and Head Girl Amelia Williams present the cheque to Marina Dalglish.
In January, an ambitious target was set to raise £14,000 for 14 charities for 2014. Along with the sponsored walk, students have raised money through non-uniform days, cake sales, concerts and sponsored silences.
The charities Neston High students have chosen to support in 2014 are:
- Mary's Meals
- Prostate Cancer UK
- Children in Need
- Comic Relief
- Smile
- Shoebox Appeal
- Neston Foodbank
- Help for Heroes
- Brain Research
- RSPCA
- Marina Dalglish Cancer Fund
- Tom Boon Raleigh International
- The Hospice of the Good Shepherd
- Joseph Windsor Heart Trust
Head Boy, Matthew Vine said: "Charity work is a major focus for the school. The £8,100 raised for the Marina Dalglish Fund is proof of how effective we can be when we mobilise as a school community. Thank you to all the students in the school who work hard to support and raise money for local, national and international causes."
Headteacher Mr Dool added: "It was a tremendous privilege to welcome Kenny and Marina Dalglish to the school. I was proud that the school was able to make a substantial contribution to the appeal.
"In addition to celebrating the schools fundraising achievements, students watched highlights from Kenny's career in football, and the school shared with Kenny and Marina our sporting triumphs."
'King' Kenny Dalglish addressed a special Assembly at the High School to celebrate students' fundraising efforts.
