Three years of planning finally came to fruition over four fun-filled days in Willaston.
The 2015 Willaston Village Festival, with a theme celebrating 85 years of TV, took place from June 25th to 28th and provided a wonderful variety of activities and entertainments for residents and visitors of all ages to enjoy.
First up was a concert in Christ Church on Thursday evening, featuring the talents of a number of musicians and singers presenting a variety of musical styles. The evening finished with a sing-along to World War One themed music.
Friday night was 'Electrifying' - a drive-in movie showing of 'Grease'. People came in suitable attire, brought picnics and drinks to enjoy and sang along to the familiar songs from the film.
The main event came on Saturday, with a Fancy Dress Parade leaving from the Village Green led by 'Karambasamba' and followed by the Mersey Morris Men. They paraded to Johnston Recreation Ground for an afternoon of community fun with stalls, classic cars and bikes, various refreshments, a dog show, displays and much more. Revd Stephen Bazely presided over the official opening of the event. It was a great afternoon, with a particularly entertaining feature being the dog show category 'best fancy dressed dog to look like a TV character.'
A Barn Dance in the evening finished Saturday off in style.
Highlights on Sunday were the Big Picnic, children's First World War-themed lunch, Pig Racing and, finally, Songs of Praise at the Methodist Chapel.
Throughout the weekend there were Flower Festivals, an Art Exhibition and a 'Lest We Forget' exhibition - commemorating the role played by Willaston Residents in the First World War.
The photos you see here were all taken by Linda Pelling. Linda has taken photographs for AboutMyArea for several years now, mainly in Neston. She has recently relocated to Willaston and took the opportunity of Saturday afternoon's Community event to introduce herself to her new neighbours.

Colin Jerrett of Willaston Rotary Club writes: Willaston & South Wirral Rotary, together with other Rotary clubs from Heswall, West Wirral, Mid Wirral and Neston, presented the "Human Fruit Machine" at the Willaston Festival. The colourful contraption with the sounds of laughter and whoops of excitement for the winners attracted a great many to the Rotary stand. The aims and achievements of Rotary were explained and several people expressed interest in joining a club.
Willaston & South Wirral meet twice monthly on Wednesday evenings, and the other clubs can offer a range of weekly meeting times to suit all interests - breakfast, lunch or evening. For information on Willaston & South Wirral contact Paul on 07729 280144 or Irene on 0151 353 1566.
The next two are from Roger Staines, who says: "Here's what the folks were doing after the festival, in the Methodist chapel, celebrating village life and praising God. Steven (new Vicar Christchurch) is in the foreground and in front of him, Marcus Torchon, our minister (who's about to return to his homeland, Haiti, for a three month sabbatical."
