Neston Village Fair 2015

This year's Village Fair took place on Saturday July 4, a beautifully sunny day enjoyed by hundreds of people.
The Fair began with a fanfare from the ATC Neston band. Revd Alan Dawson then introduced the Mayor of Neston, Cllr Mike Shipman, who declared the Fair open.
Mrs Sue Shipman crowned the Rose Queen, Ellie McKeown, who was accompanied by her Princesses, Faye Woodhouse and Kathryn Shakespeare. All three are from St Winefride's RC Primary School and had been escorted into the Fair by North West & Chester Classic Cars.
A full programme of entertainment ensued, introduced by MC Alan Johnson, including performances by Neston Primary School's Choir and Country Dancers, Hip & Harmony CIC's Community Choir and Streetdancers, Little Actors Theatre Company, InterACT Youth Theatre, Parkgate Jazz Band, and a gymnastic troupe.
NE Singers performed in the Church and the Bethania Puppets entertained on the Dream Stage throughout the afternoon.
A Grand Raffle included prizes sponsored by Lookers (Wirral) and Lucy Brooks FCCA, whilst Andrew's Estates and MGC Solicitors sponsored the Bungee Run and Bladen's Fun of the Fair sponsored the Candy Floss and Popcorn stands.
Around 2000 visitors to the fair enjoyed an array of stalls and refreshments. Best Dressed Stall was awarded to Neston & District Churches Together. CAN Group volunteers were on hand to provide face-painting and to man the bouncy castle.

Once again Nic Phipps and volunteers from OAKS (Overseas Aid for Kids in Sierra Leone) set off hundreds of balloons, and now the race is on to find out which one travels the farthest.
This was to be the last Fair that key organisers Janet & Peter Rossiter and Lynne Vaughan would be involved with, as they are stepping down from the Village Fair Committee after 16 years. They were presented with gifts acknowledging their contribution. Contrary to speculation, the Fair WILL continue next year.

Last year Neston Village Fair raised around £5000 for local organisations and causes. It is hoped that this year will have been just as successful.
The Fair this year was included in Go Neston! - a series of events taking place over the weekend of July 4 and 5 which were marketed together to welcome visitors and residents into the town and surrounding villages.
