Second Spring Clean in Parkgate

Spring was definitely in the air on Saturday as our local CWaC Councillor bared his knees in a smart pair of shorts when he joined volunteers from the Parkgate Society Community Spirit group.
Martin Barker joined the volunteers to continue Parkgate's Spring Clean, this time concentrating on the Mostyn Square car park and toilet area.
We had highlighted the area for further attention during the recent Spring Clean held at the beginning of the month. Neglected for some years, the area had become overgrown, untidy and certainly unwelcoming for visitors to Parkgate.
The shrubbery at the rear of the car park was surrounded by weeds and brambles and had become a magnet for fly tipping. Volunteers spent a couple of hours digging out the weeds and brambles, trimming back low hanging branches from the trees and bagging up a selection of carpet tiles, cement bags and the usual collection of drinks cans and bottles.
The borders and edging around the grass areas and pathways surrounding the toilet block were weeded and swept clean and even the road signs were washed.
At the end of the morning the volunteers were rewarded with chips and a hot drink supplied by the Parkgate Take Away. Our thanks go to Helen for opening the Take Away early to feed us.
Another successful morning spent in the wonderful spring sunshine.
