Parkgate Carnival is Hot Hot Hot!

Thousands of people enjoyed a beautifully sunny day packed with entertainment and fun, thanks to the Northern Lights Children's Charity Parkgate Carnival on Sunday July 9th.
Located at Neston Cricket Club, the event attracted people from far and wide to help organisers celebrate the 30th anniversary of the locally-based charity, which every year sends children with life limiting conditions on a magical Christmas journey to Lapland.

Amongst the myriad entertainments on offer were the Batala Mersey Samba Band, who set the Carnival mood from the get go, followed by a variety of local musical and dance acts, cheerleaders and even a spot of Tai Chi.The Main Arena was sponsored by Phillip Bates & Co and the Marquee stage by Wilde & Co.
The Carnival King (Andrew) and Queen (Neave) from Parkgate Primary School were crowned by the Mayor of Neston, Cllr Pat Kynaston.

Parkgate Primary School's Choir were amongst those providing entertainment.
A wide variety of stalls offered everything from cakes to candles, chillis and cheese, there really was something for everyone.
Cheshire's Crazy Cake Lady did a roaring trade.
Children had plenty to keep them amused, including a giant bouncy castle, zorbs, laser tag and slotcar racing. Cheshire Police were also on hand, as was 'Princess Belle'. Catering stands run by Moskito's Mozzy Bites, Cheeky Chilli and Fellici's, amongst others, were popular throughout the event, as was the Cricket Club bar - hats off to the bar staff for soldiering on in sweltering conditions!
A cake competition included entries from children aged 7 years and under - with 1st prize going to Daisy Daintree for her delightful cupcakes.
A veritable army of volunteers allowed the event to take place, huge thanks to every single one of them for their efforts.

The main organisers are now taking a well-earned break, but have promised us a full report on their return, including a tally up of how much the event has raised for the charity. Meanwhile, enjoy the photos we have gathered so far and, if you have any photos of your own that you would like us to include here, please send them to us by email.
