Support Neston's Christian Aid and Government Will Double Donations

Author: Rob Ward Published: 11th December 2017 09:48

Volunteers will be fundraising for Christian Aid in the local area over the next couple of weeks.

Neston & District Christian Aid Committee are delighted that volunteers will be allowed to collect at Gordale next Thursday, 14 December, and to collect and help with bag-packing at Sainsbury's on Saturday 23 December.

Christian Aid collectors at Gordale

We are most grateful to Gordale and to Sainsbury's. If you are shopping on those dates, any money that you give will be passed on to help people in great need. If you can spare an hour as a volunteer, please contact Margaret Heibel, margaret@heibel.co.uk.

Good news - the Government will match all donations to Christian Aid given until February 5th, so if you give one pound, two pounds will go to help poor people.

There is a report on the activities of Christian Aid in the Neston area in 2017 on AboutMyArea here.

I've just come back from Barclay's Bank in Heswall, where we handed in £470.91. So thank you Gordale, and generous customers, and volunteers who stood in the cold!
If anybody has an hour to spare tomorrow, we have extra collecting buckets for Sainsbury's. Please email Margaret, or just come between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. (or possibly till 8 p.m.) If you are shopping at Sainsbury's we'd be delighted to receive any money you can spare (which the Government will double!)

Thanks to all the generous Sainsbury's customers who donated yesterday, the volunteers who packed bags or stood and collected, and Sainsbury's for inviting us. By 8 p.m yesterday the buckets were really heavy. The money will be counted by Sainsbury's, and given to Christian Aid, where the Government will double it, and where it will help the poorest people around the world. As we look forward to celebrating Christmas, this is a good example of the message from Christ to love our neighbour, still resonating after 2000 years.
