Taking place a few weeks earlier than usual, the CH64 Big Lunch was the first of the big 'Summer' events locally.
On Sunday 20th May, hundreds of local residents descended on Neston's Green Flag Stanney Fields Park, for an event organised once again by Neston Community Youth Centre.

People were encouraged to bring their friends, family, picnics and chairs and settle in for a sunny afternoon of picnicking and entertainment.
Hip & Harmony CIC brought the adult community choir with them, as well as the always adorable Street Dancers, all of whom performed superbly. Wirral Cheer Club also gave a rousing performance.

For those wanting something to pep up their picnic there was the Elephant Collective Coffee Van and Hyacinth Vintage Ice Cream ready to oblige. Facepainting and other activities were provided by NCYC volunteers.

The event was moved up in the calendar in order to avoid a clash with ParkgateFest, which is taking place on the national Big Lunch weekend of 2nd and 3rd June. Also coming up are Neston Ladies Club Day, Neston Village Fair and Parkgate Carnival. For more information about these and other upcoming events, visit our What's On guide here.
Centre manager Gareth Prytherch said: "What a fantastic way to spend a Sunday afternoon! The purpose of The Big Lunch has always been to bring people and communities together and once again, with approximately 400 people throughout the day, that's exactly what happened.
"Huge thanks again to all of our amazing volunteers who must have painted 3000 faces and to Hip & Harmony CIC and Wirral Cheer Club who entertained along with Hyacinth's Vintage Ice Cream and the ever supportive Elephant Collective."
Hundreds of local residents enjoyed the afternoon.
