Accompanied into the Palace by her husband, Brian Jones, daughter Becca Jones and the charity's treasurer, Wendy Reilly, Karen says it's a day she will never forget. "It was one of those really special days, I will never, ever forget it.
"I was delighted to be accompanied by family and colleagues, including Alan Johnson, who gallantly offered to wait for us outside as I could only take three people in with me.
"We all thoroughly enjoyed the day, which included lunch at Rubens at the Palace afterwards. Truly memorable."

Northern Lights Children's Charity organises and raises funds for a trip to Lapland each December, for children with life-limiting conditions. Their next big fundraiser is in July, with Parkgate Carnival taking place on Sunday July 8th at Neston Cricket Club.

I'm surprised there's a big fundraiser though with so much money sitting in the bank.
Parkgate Carnival was a successful event last year, which was organised as a thank you to the community for their help over the previous 30 years. It is back this year due to the overwhelming positive feedback from all those that attended, especially around the price of entry which we have kept to an absolute minimum to cover our costs, this year at just £2.
We hope you can support this local community event.
In terms of engagement, there is nothing wrong with that but it doesnt have to raise money when you have more than enough to do the things you want to do.
Im sure we'll pop down to the carnival and i hope it goes well
