Neston Ladies Club 2018

With bunting old and new fluttering in a light breeze and the sun shining down on Neston, hundreds took to the streets for the town's 204th Ladies Club procession.
Butter wouldn't melt!
Organised by the Neston Female Society, this occasion that is now unique to the town, takes place on the first Thursday of June each year. The traditional parade started from the Malt Shovel in Liverpool Road, making its way through the High Street and on to the Parish Church of St Mary and St Helen.
While services took place in the church, there was live entertainment for the crowds in the street, organised by Hip & Harmony CIC and funded by Neston Town Council. Staging and a lot of the volunteer stewarding was co-ordinated by Neston Community Youth Centre.
After church the procession made its way to The Cross for the blessing by Rev Alan Dawson, along with hymns and the National Anthem. From there the dignitaries, including Justin Madders MP, the Mayor of Neston Cllr Pat Kynaston and Councillors Louise Gittins and Andy Williams, along with all the ladies and girls made their way to Neston Civic Hall for afternoon tea.
Adding to the party atmosphere this year was Elephant Bank's BBQ outside their iconic restaurant at The Cross.
Post-tea, children could enjoy the delights of the Fair, which remains in town until Saturday evening.
Another great day for Neston to be proud of. More upcoming events here.
