Homebuilder Helps Home Birds in Neston

Published: 5th July 2018 14:09

Helping schoolchildren provide homes for nature is a feather in the cap for Elan Homes.

Funds donated to Neston Primary School by the niche developer have been put to good use - paying for materials for bird boxes so that the children could embark on a construction project of their own.

Head teacher Rob Golding said: "The school grounds are a great place to play and learn and the outdoor learning club enables us to combine the two, helping the children develop a lifelong love of the outdoors by learning more about the natural environment around them.

"We're grateful to Elan for supporting the bird box project. The children had lots of fun developing new skills by building and decorating the bird boxes. They are now looking forward to seeing who moves in to them."

The school is less than a mile from Elan's Old Quay Meadow development, where the final phase of four and five-bedroom homes is now on sale.

Marie Morris, sales director for Elan Homes in the North, said: "The children from Neston Primary have done an excellent job in creating homes for their feathered friends. While the bird boxes are on a much smaller scale to the homes we are building for humans nearby, the project may inspire the children to consider a future career in construction or the wider housing industry."

Alt Old Quay Meadow, Elan is preserving the natural environment with many mature trees retained and a central area of on-site public open space provided as part of the development. Elan will also contribute around £30,000 towards off-site open space.
