Fly Tipping - Let's Stop It Here

Author: Cllr Dominic Roberts Published: 7th September 2018 09:48

Local councillor Dominic Roberts writes in with his concerns over recent fly tipping in the Neston area.

I was extremely saddened to discover this fly tipping on the track between Woodfall Lane and Mill Lane, Little Neston this evening (Thursday 6 September).

Flytipping in Woodfall Lane area of Little Neston

Fly tipping is simply disgusting and potentially dangerous, through individuals' sheer laziness. Thankfully it's something that I have very rarely seen in our town and it must not become something that we put up with. We live in a fantastic area and we should fight hard to keep it that way.

The fly tipping on this occasion was a mix of a mattress, old cot, suitcase, worktops, plastic boxes and even a recycle bin. It must not become an accepted nuisance.

I have reported this fly tipping to Cheshire West and Chester Council and it will be cleared. But let's face it, all of us will be paying through our council tax to have it removed. Money that could be spent on many other more positive actions. So thank you tippers!

I urge everyone to be aware and report any suspicious activity. Let's end this here.

I too walk my dog up this lane and was appalled also, this is the second time its happened. It looks like whoever is doing this is using the access from woodfalll lane/gorstons lane which is a footpath to get to or from the area for dumping!!! wish I could catch them!!! would a bollard or means of stopping the access from this end not be a feasible solution so the only way to this lane for a car or van is via Mill Lane near the farm?? This really needs sorting as I reckon it will keep happening... Alternatively set up a secret camera and catch the bugger doing it.

My wife noticed this new pile of rubbish when walking our dog on Wednesday 5/9/18. I reported it on line to CWAC that afternoon and also advised Louise Gittins of the situation as this is the second time in less than a fortnight. The relevant council depatment cleared the last pile in less than 24 hours, but so far this new pile remains in situ.
There is no doubt in my mind that the vehicle that dumped it had entered the track from Mill lane as there were some tyre tracks in the grass from that direction. Regarding placing a bollard to prevent access from the school end, I do not feel that this would be a solution as the lane narrows at that end and is not really suitable for a van etc.and I am sure they came from the mill Lane end which is the nearest access point. It should also be noted that it would also be illegal to obstruct access to this bridleway or any other by a gate . Vehicles other than farm vehicles are prohibited from bridleways.

Old Timer I am not going to get into an argument about where they are entering the lane, however, I would suggest that they either come from the school end or mill lane end... the vehicle has used this route as a one way, in the middle of the night I would assume when there aint no one walking their dog. I merely suggested to put a bollard in place to stop any traffic entering/exiting from this way... you can drive from the school end right up to mill lane... I have seen the tyre tracks... even easier if they're in a 4 x4 .... there is a bollard at the next entry to the Wirral way on cuckoos lane.

vehicles are prohibited from bridleways but this hasn't stopped them.

This junk was all removed yesterday by CWAC. .I understand vital
evidence was found in the pile and hopefully the perpetrators can be
prosecuted

Well done Cllr Roberts - I saw this pile too and it was dreadful. People who do this are despicable - thank you for getting it sorted.

Do fly-tipped items become public property, because there looks to be some useful stuff, firewood and furniture for example.
