Well known locally for her years of dedication to working with young people in the Neston area, Carol Stott has now been recognised on a wider platform.
Carol Stott - Adult Volunteer of the Year for her work with young people in Neston.
Cheshire West and Chester Council Early Help and Prevention Service celebrated the work of young people and those who support them at the recent West Cheshire Youth and Community Awards 2019 event.
The event, held at Northwich Memorial Court, recognised young people in west Cheshire and those dedicated individuals and groups who support 13 - 19 year olds to help them to thrive, grow and flourish.
Carol received the award for Adult Volunteer of the Year, with the citation: 'Carol's commitment, passion and enthusiasm has meant an ever presence in the lives of generations of Neston residents.' A retired police officer, Carol has worked tirelessly in the Neston community, particularly alongside the parish church and NCYC, to organise and win funding for the provision of diversionary activities for young people, from youth clubs to boxing and football.
Neston Primary School's Rotakids were also honoured, receiving the Partnership Award, as we reported here.
Councillor Nicole Meardon, Cabinet Member Children and Families, said: "It was a fantastic evening. We were overwhelmed by the number and quality of nominations we received.
"It is evident there is some fantastic work taking place across our borough and I am delighted we were able to take the opportunity to recognise the people involved.
"I would like to offer my personal congratulations to everyone who received an award and to thank all those who took the time to submit a nomination. Without your contributions we would not have heard of all the brilliant work being undertaken."
There were nine award categories. Details of winners in each category are accessible here.
