A Christmas Message from Rev Hilary Smith

Rev. Hilary Smith, from Parkgate & Neston United Reformed Church, shares her Christmas message.
Picture if you will in your mind's eye, that image of the baby in the manger.
Amongst the dirt and the straw, the animal mess and bits of old food left behind, there sparkles the jewel that is a new born baby; fresh, pure, brand new, wonderful.
Pause for a moment to think what this means for you, as, this Christmas, we again visit the scene of Jesus' birth.
Aach one of us can relate to something in the story of Jesus' birth, and it will be different depending on what is happening in our lives right now.
For each one of us, and for the community here, it's because of Christmas that we know that God has set us free, and that he is always with us.
So if for you Christmas is little more than just a good story, think again, because in the dust and dirt of human existence we all need the jewels; the acts of compassion, love and kindness, signs of hope and joy. Those images of new birth and re-creation are what keep us living our lives to the full.
Wishing you and your loved ones every blessing this Christmas and always.
