Thank You For Being Santas to Seniors in Neston

Published: 14th January 2020 11:04

Home Instead Senior Care ran their Christmas Campaign ‘Be A Santa to a Senior' during November and December 2019, to provide a gift to elderly people who were their own at Christmas and may not otherwise receive one.

Fourteen Christmas trees were placed in organisations across the Wirral, Neston and Willaston including Neston Community Youth Centre, Sainsbury's Neston and Christ Church in Willaston. Members of the public took a tag from the Christmas tree and bought the suggested gift on the tag. Home Instead Senior Care collected the gifts, wrapped them and distributed them to appropriate organisations.

The involvement of the organisations and overwhelming generosity of the general public enabled Home Instead to provide Christmas gifts to 850 older people in Wirral and Neston. Gift were provided to over 30 groups and organisations including guests at Neston Community Christmas dinner and to Neston Angels.

Spokesperson Bev Favager said: "Home Instead Senior Care Wirral want to say a big thank you to the organisations involved and the kindness of the general public in making a huge difference to the lives of seniors across the Wirral and Neston area."

I was on my own this Christmas so went to the community dinner provided by Sainsbury’s and others. It was a lovely meal, lovely company and we all got gifts to bring home. Loved it, thank you Sainsbury’s and your lovely staff cooking and serving.

Cathy, Glad you enjoyed your Community Christmas meal. Did you "Community" comes from the Roman word "communis" meaning, shared by many?
