Neston Company of Archers Hosts National Championships

Neston Company of Archers recently hosted another archery Clout shooting event, with archers coming from all over the country to participate in the Cheshire and English Championships.
Clout archery is where archers shoot arrows at a flag (known as "the Clout") from a relatively long distance and score points depending on how close each arrow lands to the flag. Archers shoot distances from 80yds for juniors to 180yds for seniors.
Scoring zones are defined by maximum radii from the flag pole. Each arrow scores points depending on which scoring zone it enters the ground in. An arrow embedded in the flag pole is counted as being in the highest scoring zone.
Club members Graham Gibson and Carol Morris-Lewis were awarded 1st places in the Cheshire Championships.
