All About Women - Mental Health Support Group

After being awarded a grant from Neston Town Council, a new support group for women who live in the Neston area has now opened.
Aimed at women who experience mental health problems and/or social isolation, the group is facilitated by women who themselves have, or have had, experience of mental ill health.
Weekly meetings take place at the Neston Methodist Church Community Centre at the junction of Park St and Liverpool Road on Thursday evenings from 7 - 9pm.
The primary aims of the group are to give women the opportunity to share their feelings with a group of like-minded women in a friendly, non-judgemental and safe environment; help them make new friends and encourage them to move forward in their lives. As the Group progresses, it is hoped that outings/day trips can be arranged to places of interest in the local area and further afield.
Referrals will be accepted from GPs, Social Workers, Community Psychiatric nurses, and any other healthcare professionals who have clients or patients who they feel will benefit from this Group. But, importantly, women can also self-refer.
Anything discussed in the group is confidential, unless the women, themselves, wish to discuss their problems outside of the Group.
All About Women is free to attend and coffee/tea and biscuits (and the occasional cake) will be available.

Group co-ordinator Lilian Baker said: "We understand from our own experiences how sometimes it can be difficult to make that first step, but please give us a try. We promise you will be made very welcome.
"We may not be able to make you better, but we can guarantee that you will go home feeling better!"
