The latest on progress at the Mostyn House site, from AboutMyArea contributor Chris Howe.
The development of the Mostyn House site is moving apace with many of the new homes built on the fields at the rear beginning to rise from the earth. I didn't count how many, but it would appear that at least half of the foundations for the new homes are now in place.
As for the main school building itself, it's hard to tell how much work has been done inside, but there are visible signs of work on the outside to restore the Grade II listed building. The scaffolding along the front looks complete and it appears as if work has started to replace to roof.
On the ground floor what looks like uPVC double doors have appeared, I'm not sure if these are a permanent feature or just there for temporary security. I don't think uPVC would be in keeping with this landmark structure!
To highlight why the school building is such an important local landmark I have taken an image which shows the building along side others which make up Parkgate front, they include buildings such as the Ship Hotel and famous Nicholls ice Cream shop.
